Bridges connect shores and help to overcome obstacles, they provide relief in transport and traffic systems and – what is most important – they bring people closer together.
Movable Bridges can offer these advantages even under extreme external conditiones provided that the drives operate trouble-free.
Thus when designing the hydraulic drives especially the hanging wind loads and the often very low natural frequencies of the bridge leaves have to be taken into consideration.
Bridges and Ro-Ro Bridges without sufficient mechanical and structural resistance towards torsional stresses are in need of synchronisation measures, e.g. hydraulic ones.

Ro-Ro Bridges allow loading a ferry boat with trains and other vehicles as well as the safe access of the passengers. They are equalizing the different water levels and the ferry's draught under changing loading conditions.
